A Mother's Love

One day, a child said to his mother, 'I want to go far away, out into the big wide world!'

One day, a child said to his mother, 'I want to go far away, out into the big wide world!'

The mother replied, 'Then I'll come too, and protect you so that nothing bad will happen to you.'

'Then I'll become a wild river whose water rushes quickly through the land,' said the child.

To which the mother responded, 'Then I'll become the land surrounding the river that guides its course.'

That made the child angry and he said, 'Then I'll become a bird who can fly away as quick as the wind.'

The mother became quiet, gazed lovingly at her child and said, 'Then I will dig my roots deep into the earth and become the tree to which you can return throughout your entire life.
